PBF 60/700 Perfect Binder Feeder

The PBF 60/700 Perfect Binder Feeder automates the process of forming complete book blocks from signatures and single sheets produced by the folding machine and loads them into the clamp of the perfect binder.

The folded signatures or single sheets exit the folding machine and are then fed into the Perfect Binder Feeder by conveyor belt. The signatures then enter a pocket in the Perfect Binder Feeder where they are collated. Signatures/sheets continue to enter the pocket until such time as the Perfect Binder Feeder receives a signal from the printer to indicate that the last signature/sheet has arrived. Once the last signature has arrived within the pocket, the complete book block is then joggled on a vibrating plate to ensure that the signatures/sheets are correctly aligned. The Perfect Binder Feeder then clamps the completed book block, lifts it and inserts it into the clamp of the perfect binder, at the same time signalling the perfect binder to indicate that a complete book block is present and ready for processing.

The PBF 60/700 Perfect Binder Feeder can also process ready collated book blocks. The book blocks are indexed along the infeed conveyor until entering the perfect binder feeder pocket where they are joggled on a vibrating plate to ensure that the signatures/sheets are correctly aligned. They are then compressed and positioned upright for the perfect binder feeder transfer clamp to lift and insert the block into the perfect binder clamp. The feeder then signals to the binder to process the book block. The perfect binder feeder then moves onto the next cycle.

The Perfect Binder Feeder is designed such that when not operating inline, the clamping and conveyor mechanism, which feeds the perfect binder, can be retracted to allow manual access to and operation of the perfect binder.

Output rate for the PBF 60/700 Perfect Binder Feeder is 700 books per hour with a maximum book thickness of 60mm. Maximum page size is 297mm x 210mm (11.7” x 8.3”)
