Dryer/Feeder for Fastset 60/700 Three-knife Trimmer

When deployed inline with the Fastset 60/700, this advanced dryer/feeder can be automativally controlled by the 60/700 Three Knife Trimmer to maximise throughput. Books are fed from the binder into pockets in the dryer/feeder, which has 20 pockets available at any one time, to convey single or multiple book blocks in the trimmer. Each book is held such that its weight is on the spine, which is the optimal position for perfect bound books.

The controls can be set such that either a single or multiple books are accepted in each pocket, before the unit indexes to the next station. Book size and thickness are quickly and easily changed. The overall control system is designed so that information is constantly exchanged between the binder, the dryer/feeder and the three knife trimmer. The dryer/feeder signals the binder when the next pocket is available, ensuring that all functions are continuously synchronised.
